Abortion Rates Are Higher In Countries Where Procedure Is Illegal, Study Finds

Abortion rates are higher in countries where the procedure is illegal and nearly half of all abortions worldwide are unsafe, with the vast majority in developing countries, a new study concludes.
Experts couldn’t say whether more liberal laws led to fewer procedures, but said good access to birth control in those countries resulted in fewer unwanted pregnancies.
About 47,000 women died from unsafe abortions in 2008, and another 8.5 million women had serious medical complications. Almost all unsafe abortions were in developing countries, where family planning and contraceptive programs have mostly levelled off.
“An abortion is actually a very simple and safe procedure,” said Gilda Sedgh, a senior researcher at the U.S.-based Guttmacher Institute, designated by the World Health Organization as an official Collaborating Center for Reproductive Health. “All of these deaths and complications are easily avoidable,” said Sedgh, the study’s lead author.
Dear anti-choicers, see, here’s the thing. When you outlaw something that there is demand for, people aren’t going to stop doing it. They’re just going to find a way to do it that may not be as safe.
You call yourself pro-life, but outlawing abortion will go a long way in causing more death from unsanitary “back alley” abortions.
But pro-lifers don’t care about the life of the person carrying the fetus. They only care about the survival of the fetus, even if that means killing off the person carrying it…
Which of course translates to pro-fetus and anti-choice.
Kill the host, kill the fetus, orphan the kids already born. That’s the pro-life way.
The forced-birth lobby don’t give a shit about women’s lives; they think death is a just punishment for abortion.

Y’know, when you argue against gay marriage with the old ‘won’t somebody think of the children’ schtick, you’re not arguing against the right of gay people to be married, you’re arguing against our right to have relationships at all. Because no one is waiting for your permission to have a family. We’re having them now, in all the same ways that we’ll be having them after this country comes to its senses and grants equal marriage.
So be aqainst us, in whatever disengenuous way you want to argue it, but don’t pretend concern about our kids. Your words of bigotry and hate tell the truth about your real feelings.
In fact, if you’re against equal marriage and want to help protect children, the best thing you can do is to SHUT THE FUCK UP. Your hate only causes our kids pain.
